Yesterday, Dan and I drove-up to Reno (yes, that's in Nevada). Dan has been looking on Craigslist for MONTHS, for a toyota pick-up truck that met all of his requirements. He emailed and called around, only to find out that each truck he came across was either sold or he never heard back. Then, after submitting one more email, he received a call! We told the owner that we would drive-up on Thursday...so we did! It ended-up being a great find, so we bought it! Dan is on cloud-nine! We had previously talked about our mini-trip and discovered that both of our families spent quite a few vacations at Lake Tahoe when we were kids. We talked about the last time either of us had been to Lake Tahoe. Sadly, it was about 14 yrs. ago for both of us! We reminisced together about memories of Tahoe and found we shared many. We both remembered the Boatworks Shopping Mall in Tahoe City and a pizza place that shared the same parking-lot. Neither of us could remember the name, but we could remember the incredible smell of pizza that filled the parking-lot, so long ago. We decided to make it a lunch-date. After purchasing the truck we headed for Tahoe. It was a beautiful day! We arrived and the memories came flooding back! We pulled into the Boatworks parking-lot, exited the cars, BUT WAIT...where was the aroma of pizza? We hunted around the mall for someone to tell us what happened to it. We found 2 sweet women who gave us curious looks as they said, "They moved 10 years ago." We then explained that it had been a while since we had been there. There is, however, a delicious ending to our pizza-hunt...Village Pizza, as it is so named, moved to Truckee. Before we left the Boatworks, we stopped at their chocolate shop and bought some treats. The same owner was there (it is amazing that this store is the first place that I remember eating a "jawbreaker" candy and they still sell them). We found Village Pizza in Truckee and had a tasty 2:30pm lunch, visited Old Town Truckee, and drove home!Friday, May 2, 2008
